Ready for Reentry is a course we built to help people prepare to come out of prison and stay out. It is free on Edovo tablets, and it connects learners with people who want to help when they come home.

The story so far
Where this came from
Embraced:Fully started in 2020, matching people coming home from prison with small teams of local volunteers we call Angel Teams. It has grown into an interfaith network of churches, reentry organizations, chaplains, and volunteers.
That help came after someone was home. We wanted to start earlier, so we built this course with Edovo. It went live June 23, 2026.
More than two thousand learners have asked to be connected with someone where they are going. Now we need people in those towns ready to say yes.

How it works
What we do
Prepare
22 lessons on a prison tablet. A written Reentry Plan at the end.
Connect
Learners can ask to be matched with a church, an organization, or a mentor where they are going.
Equip
We train the people on the other end.
The course
What the course is like
Built on the Risk-Need-Responsivity model, the research behind the First Step Act. Every lesson adds to a written plan. People who have been to prison tell their stories throughout.
Five phases: identity and recovery, housing and health, work and money, family and mentors, then the complete plan. Finishers earn a certificate they can show a parole board, an employer, or a landlord.

Why this works
Why we built it this way
About four in five people released from prison are arrested again within ten years.
Three things change that: steady work (CCJ), new thinking habits (NIJ), and mentors who have been there (OJP). The course works on all three.
What a course cannot do
A plan still needs people.
A course cannot meet someone at the gate or give them a ride. That takes a person.
So the last thing it asks is: would you like to be connected with someone where you are going?
